It all began with the establishment of the Eastern in 1884. When the Oriental was added on in the
following year, the hotel became the Eastern and Oriental. The Eastern and Oriental has no regular
guest rooms, all 99 rooms are suites. Each one offers authentic colonial charm and a level of
hospitality unrivalled in this part of the world.
All our suites have timber floors and are luxuriously appointed with exquisite bone china, bed
linen of the finest Egyptian cotton, and Persian carpets. Guests can also look forward to a fresh
daily supply of chocolates, petit fours, fruits, and exotic orchids. Bathrooms are especially large
offering English toiletries and oversized bath towels.
Butler Service
At your service, if you wish, is a butler to cater to your every need around the clock.
From check-in to check-out, and everything in-between, arranging for room service, unpacking
and packing your suitcase, shining your shoes, taking care of your laundry, and assisting you
with your travel arrangements.
